BISP News – Latest Update on Benazir Income Support Programme

August 12, 2024 – The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has issued critical updates that all beneficiaries need to be aware of. In a recent statement Mr. Naveed Akbar, a senior official of the BISP, made several important announcements regarding the upcoming changes and deadlines for the program.

Key Announcements of BISP News

  1. Final Deadline for Withdrawals:
Beneficiaries from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are urged to withdraw their funds by August 7, 2024. Those from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Islamabad must do so by August 9, 2024. After these dates, the current installment will no longer be accessible as the program transitions to a new banking system.
  2. Transition to New Banks:
BISP is planning to distribute future installments through new banks. Beneficiaries are advised to withdraw their current funds from the existing banks before the deadlines, as the money will not be transferred to the new banking system.
  3. Mandatory Survey for Continued Eligibility:
A significant change is being implemented for those currently benefiting from the program. If you are a beneficiary who has not updated your survey after 2021, you must do so by September 30, 2024. Failing to update your survey may result in removal from the program. This update is crucial as the BISP is preparing to release a new list of beneficiaries by the end of the year, focusing on those who are genuinely in need.
  4. Survey Process Flexibility:
To facilitate the survey process, it is not mandatory for the registered woman in the family to personally complete the survey. If circumstances prevent her from doing so, another family member, such as a son, can fulfill this requirement. This flexibility is provided to ensure that all eligible households can complete the survey without unnecessary delays.
  5. Open Court Sessions:
The BISP will continue to hold open court sessions where beneficiaries can raise their concerns and seek immediate resolution of their issues. Mr. Naveed Akbar emphasized that the program is committed to resolving all issues promptly and ensuring that all eligible families continue to receive support.

These updates are part of the BISP ongoing efforts to improve the program’s efficiency and ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most. Beneficiaries are strongly encouraged to act on these announcements to avoid any disruptions in receiving their financial aid.
